Coastal and marine environmental site guide (second edition)

Any construction project, irrespective of the location, size or nature of the development, will have environmental consequences. This is particularly true when working on the coast or at sea given the often sensitive nature of the environment and the importance of this area for human activities. However, good management and construction processes can avoid or minimise impacts. This guide focuses on the control of environmental impacts arising from construction practices in the coastal and marine environment (recognising that the coastal environment includes terrestrial elements). It builds upon the issues described in the first edition of site guide, and complements the site guide and pocket book relating to the terrestrial environment. Those projects that need to deal with land and marine water interfaces should draw on this and the environmental site guide.
