Trenchless construction for underground services

The need for trenchless construction of underground services in congested areas is becoming increasingly apparent. The UK has extensive experience in the fields of moling and pipe bursting, which are both widely used by the public utilities, but experience of other techniques is still limited. The study provides a focus for the various interests concerned with trenchless construction, to demonstrate the type of situation where this method may be advantageous, for either technical or financial reasons, to provide information on the methods and types of equipment available, and to identify any major needs for further research and development.
