Waste minimisation and recycling in construction. Design manual
Description
The construction industry produces huge quantities of waste, about four times the rate of household waste production. This waste arises from demolition, from excavations and site preparation, and from general waste production during the construction process. In recognition of the need to reduce such volumes of waste, CIRIA has undertaken two research projects. The first identifies the opportunities and constraints for waste minimisation (SP122), and this theme is developed in the second research project (this manual), which provides practical guidance for the construction industry on how to tackle waste minimisation.
