Design of low-lift pumping stations - with particular application to pumping wastewater
Description
A low-lift pumping station can be defined broadly as one in which water is lifted between two open water surfaces through a pumped total head up to about 10 m. The effective design and operation of a pumping station needs to take into account the components and their interaction as a composite site. This guide, which is written in two parts, describes the basic principles and theory relating to hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and civil works, and how theory and principles are applied to the particular application of the design or rehabilitation of wastewater pumping stations. Experience derived from the operation and maintenance of existing pumping stations is incorporated, and operation strategy is discussed.
